Summer is officially here, which means it’s time for days filled with friends and adventures. No exotic vacation plans? No problem. The Irving Library brings “exotic” animal events out to you! There’s so many amazing things to see and learn during our “out of this world” programs and presentations, you won’t need to go far to have a good time. We’ve made it easy to plan your best summer yet with this list of fun animal adventures going on in June.

Family Movie Matinee - A Dog’s Way Home | Rated PG
2 p.m. June 1 | Valley Ranch Library, 401 Cimarron Trail
Come early to get the best seat for A Dog's Way Home (rated PG). As a puppy, Bella finds her way into the arms of Lucas, a young man who gives her a good home. When Bella becomes separated from Lucas, she soon finds herself on an epic, 400-mile journey to reunite with her beloved owner. Along the way, the lost but spirited dog touches the lives of an orphaned mountain lion, a down-on-his-luck veteran and some friendly strangers who happen to cross her path.

Meet real wild animals from the Dallas Zoo.

Fort Worth Zoo presents Fun and Furry Animals | Family event
2:30 p.m. June 4 | West Irving Library, 4444 W. Rochelle Rd
West Irving Library's Summer of Fun starts off in a wild way! Learn about a variety of animals when the Fort Worth Zoo brings their friends to the library.

All About Animals presents Out-of-This-World Animals| Grades K - 5

This high-flying show is back by popular demand! Join us for a demonstration with Window to the Wild ambassadors - birds of prey from around the world - and their trainers.

Wildlife on the Move presents The Unhuggables | Family event
2:30 p.m. June 11 | West Irving Library, 4444 W. Rochelle Rd
Learn about snakes, bugs, and other critters that are fascinating, but you'd think twice about hugging.

Equest Mini-Horses | Family event
2:30 and 3:30 p.m. June 20 | South Irving Library, 601 Schulze Dr
Learn about the important therapy work these four-legged ambassadors do at Equest and stick around after the presentation for a meet-and-greet. Meet the ponies in two sessions, one at 2:30 and the other at 3:30 p.m. Each is limited to 150 attendees.
