City of Irving Warns of Drinking Water Scam on Facebook

Filling a water glass from the faucet.

Several Irving residents have phoned to say they saw a Facebook post that claimed Irving’s water quality was bad. The post listed a number to call to receive water testing. This is a scam.

Irving’s water quality continues to be rated superior by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The City of Irving conducts tests each month to ensure our water is safe to drink. Our most recent report is here.

These scams have happened before. The City of Irving warns customers to be suspicious of anyone requesting to enter their homes. On occasion, a City of Irving water department employee will need to test the water supply. Irving employees wear identifying uniforms, carry an Irving ID and their vehicles are marked with the City of Irving logo. Additionally, they will take samples from outside of the home.
