Beginning this fall, residents will have the opportunity to view more detailed information about their water consumption in the City of Irving. Residents and businesses will have more tangible insight into their water usage and rates through Capricorn, a new online Utility Billing Customer Portal.
The online customer portal is part of new systemwide updates within the city. Over the past year, the Water Utilities Department has joined with the Financial Services and Information Technology departments to implement new software and technology for billing.
Residents and business owners can sign up for the system at MyIrvingBill.org. The portal is accessible using any device, so residents can see their bill while on the go. The site is complimentary for any City of Irving customers (water and sewer utilities, solid waste and storm water services) who wish to view their data online. Online payments made through the new application will be processed by Paymentus. Those who already use Paymentus and choose to sign up for the customer portal must use the same email address to access the payment information on file.
The customer portal also will allow visitors to submit work orders, change their address, sign up for paperless billing and receive tips on improving water consumption.
Residents and business owners who choose not to use the portal can still make their payments in person at City Hall, 825 W. Irving Blvd.
In addition to the online service, residential and commercial accounts now have an extended amount of time to pay their bill. The change was adopted unanimously by the Irving City Council on Aug. 1. All account holders also now have 45 days to pay unpaid bills before their service is disconnected.
Additional customer water usage data will be available on the portal in 2020, after Water Utilities Advanced Metering Infrastructure project has been completed. Water Utilities customers will be able to monitor their daily usage, along with their water consumption history. The city hopes the additional information will provide residents and business owners with an enhanced customer service experience.
