Recycle Your Holiday Cooking Oil, Grease

The word "grease" written in congealed grease in a fry pan.

Irving Water Utilities is hosting an opportunity for residents to protect their homes and community from sewer backups and clogged pipes.

The 2019 Holiday Grease Roundup will run 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily, Nov. 25 through Jan. 6, and residents can drop off used cooking oil and grease at a collection station at 333 Valley View Lane. Only cooking oil and grease will be accepted; motor oil and other fluids can be disposed of through the city's refuse collection and special recycling events.

Collected oil and grease will be recycled into biodiesel and turned into biogas for energy production.
