Kanopy Kids has inked a deal with Sesame Workshop that allows families to take a stroll down Sesame Street any time, during breakfast or even right before bedtime, for free with an Irving Public Library card.
If you are among the thousands of fans of this long-running, iconic educational series for youngsters, you’ll be happy to learn that 24 episodes of Sesame Street, from seasons 39 and 40, are now available to stream on Irving Library’s Kanopy Kids service. In addition to great lessons and adventures with Abby, Elmo and Big Bird, the episodes feature some of today’s brightest stars and notable personalities, including Lin Manuel, Michelle Obama, Jimmy Fallon, Sarah Jessica Parker and more!
Kanopy Kids has been bringing quality PBS shows and educational videos to younger viewers since its launch in 2018. Expanding the service to include Sesame Street is a huge leap forward for Kanopy Kids. Currently, only subscribers to the paid service HBO Max have the ability to stream episodes on demand from Sesame Street’s back catalog. Educators can also benefit from the access to the public performance rights that come with using Kanopy’s service.
Irving cardholders can sign up and use for Kanopy, for free. Visit https://www.cityofirving.org/3141/Kanopy-Movies to read more about the service, check-out limits and helpful tips.
Just a note: Kanopy Kids is an off-shoot of Kanopy which provides streaming educational content and award-winning cinematic masterpieces for older viewers. Once logged in, you will need to click on the Kanopy Kids link, in the upper right corner, to be routed to the Kanopy Kids main page. Once logged in, parental controls (found in the drop down list when you click on your username) can be set to access age-appropriate videos. We always recommend that a caregiver monitor a child’s internet usage to ensure they are always viewing parent-approved content.
