Revised Hunter Ferrell Landfill Operations During Dallas County’s Shelter in Place Order

pg-236-Landfill

Due to Dallas County’s Shelter-in-Place order, Irving’s Hunter Ferrell Landfill, 110 E. Hunter Ferrell Road, has revised its operations.

Listed below are the changes to the landfill operations.

  • Residential and commercial construction are considered “Essential Critical Infrastructure” as defined in the Dallas County’s order.
  • Smaller loads of commercial and residential construction materials will be weighed and directed to roll-off containers located at the landfill for the easy disposal of the smaller construction materials.
  • Larger loads of commercial construction materials will be weighed. Contractors will be directed to the landfill’s working face for disposal of the construction materials.
  • Only credit card transactions will be accepted at the landfill during the duration of Dallas County’s order. This is being enacted to promote safety for the scale house personnel during their daily operations.
  • The City of Irving also has an affordable “Roll-off Container Program” which is available to Irving contractors or residents who are having renovations or additions to their residential or commercial property. Information on these services is available at 972-721-8059.
  • We are still closed to the general public, for general waste debris. The landfill closing to the public is necessary to accommodate these construction activities, specifically regarding Irving residents or contractors performing construction work in the city who haul construction material themselves to the landfill.
  • All normal trash, recycling, and bulk collection services remain unchanged. Residents are encouraged to place material out for collection on their normal collection days by using the regular bagged trash collection for items weighing under 50 lbs. or utilizing the city’s bulk collection service for larger items weighing more than 50 lbs.
