Free Tax Preparation Service for Low-, Moderate-Income Seniors

Effective April 1, the annual tax preparation service provided through the Heritage Senior Center will follow these guidelines: 

  • By appointment only; no walk-ins.
  • Tax preparation service will continue through June 15.
  • Main entry doors will remain closed to the public. 
  • Masks are required at all times while in the building.
  • Patrons will enter/exit through solid red doors only.
  • Temperature checks will be taken upon entry to the building.
  • Tax packets must be picked up and filled out prior to appointment time.

Tax preparation services are provided by volunteers trained by the IRS and AARP.

To schedule an appointment, call Grace Beckner at (214) 770-5599.  Appointments are scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays; available time slots are 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Envelopes with the tax packets and additional information will be available for pick up directly outside of the main entry doors of the Heritage Senior Center, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. The mission of this program is to provide free basic tax return preparation for low- to moderate-income (annual income <$60,000) and elderly taxpayers. This also includes taxpayers with disabilities, limited English proficiency, and current and former military.
