The Irving Police Department (IPD) recently held a free Child Safety Seat Inspection event at the Family Advocacy Center, helping families understand how to properly use their child's car seat and detect problems. The department has worked with other agencies on similar programs in the past, but this is the first one using all IPD personnel. A state program provided the department with car seats to provide to families who had damaged or expired seats.
Studies show that most child car seats are used incorrectly. That’s why IPD is working to get the word out about this important service.
Irving Police also will conduct individual safety seat inspections by appointment. Register online, and review other safety information and links to resources.
