Seal of the Governor of Texas

Governor Abbott issued Executive Order GA-39 prohibiting vaccine mandates and vaccine passports subject to legislative action on Aug. 25. The order maintains the current policy prohibiting any COVID-19 vaccination mandates or requirements by any government entity in the state of Texas.

Additionally, the governor added to the Texas Legislature's Special Session agenda the issue of whether any state or local governmental entities in Texas can mandate that an individual receive a COVID-19 vaccine and, if so, what exemptions should apply to such mandate.
