West Irving Library Construction Update

West Irving Library entrance

Opened in April 2011, West Irving Library at 4444 W. Rochelle Road serves thousands of patrons each year with reading materials, research assistance and other programming. The 10-year-old LEED Gold-certified facility gets its fair share of use, necessitating repairs to keep the building in good condition.

Starting in April 2021, the Capital Improvement Program staff and construction crew replaced concrete slabs and sidewalks at the building’s main entry. In addition to new concrete, crews improved drainage around the area.

The library building continues to be open during regular hours, but the main entry may be temporarily closed during periods of construction.  A secondary entry on the north side of the building is available on those days, and the book drop continues to function as usual. Patrons with mobility challenges are advised to check construction status by calling ahead at (972) 721-2691.
