What if I have a corner visibility problem?: If you encounter an obstruction that blocks visibility at intersections or along city streets, call the City of Irving to investigate visibility problems at (972) 721-2646 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Public Works Traffic Division will determine if the obstruction can be trimmed or removed.

1. Does DART offer car pool service?: Irving residents who "want to get to work without working to get there" are invited to call the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Rideshare at (214) 747-7433. DART provides car pool computer matching. To reduce congestion on crowded streets and save valuable energy, residents are urged to use the DART Rideshare Program.

2. Does DART offer service for the disabled?: Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) provides paratransit services for residents of Irving. The service is called HandiRides. For general information regarding paratransit, call HandiRides Paratransit at (214) 828-6800.

3. Does Irving provide public transportation?: Public transportation is provided to Irving residents by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). There are two transit centers in Irving. The North Irving Transit Center is located at the corner of O'Connor Road and Spur 348. The South Irving Transit Center is located on Rock Island and O'Connor Road. DART also provides commuter rail service. The Trinity Express services Irving from the South Irving Transit center into Downtown Dallas at Union Station. For complaints and or questions concerning trash and mowing at DART facilities, call DART directly at (214) 979-1111.

4. Does the city sweep the streets in Irving?: The City of Irving sweeps all streets with curbs once a month to keep roadways clean. Streets are swept on a rotational basis as weather permits.

5. What about a need for trimming trees near utility lines?: To prevent tree limbs from damaging or falling on electrical lines, the TXU will trim trees that are in close proximity to the lines. Call TXU at (972) 791-2888 to report any tree limbs that are growing too close to utility lines.
To report a tree limb that has fallen on an electrical line, call (888) 313-6862.

7. What if I notice a need for street maintenance and repairs?: Residents can report potholes, street repairs, or other related problems to the City of Irving by calling Public Works Streets Division at (972) 721-2201 during normal business hours. Emergency or hazardous conditions can be reported to police dispatch at (972) 721-2518 after business hours and on weekends.

8. What is the procedure for graffiti removal?: The City of Irving will remove graffiti from traffic control devices, public and private property free of charge. For graffiti removal from traffic control devices call Transportation at (972) 721-2646. For graffiti removal from public property call Streets at (972) 721-2201. For graffiti removal from private property call Code Enforcement at (972) 721-4829. If you observe graffiti being placed on traffic control devices, public or private property, call the Police Department at (972) 721-2518.

9. What if there are streetlight problems?: Street lights are owned and maintained by Oncor. Residents may report outages directly to Oncor at 1-888-313-4747, or visit the Oncor webpage. Residents also can contact the Transportation Department at (972) 721-2646 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Repairs normally are made by Oncor within 10 to 15 working days.

10. What if there is a problem with traffic signals?: To report any signal malfunctions call (972) 721-2646 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. After 5 p.m. call (972) 721-2661.

11. Where can I get a DART schedule?: Bus schedules and train schedules are available at City Hall at 825 W. Irving Boulevard, the Irving Central Library at 801 W. Irving Boulevard, and at the DART Transit Center.

12. Who maintains public alleys?: The City of Irving maintains both improved and unimproved alleys. The property owner is responsible for the mowing of grass, trimming of tree limbs extending into the alley, and keeping the alley free of debris. For more information about alley maintenance, call the Public Works Streets Division at (972) 721-2201.

13. Who maintains street signs and pavement markings?: The City of Irving maintains signs and pavements markings on all primary streets in Irving. The Public Works Department is responsible for seeing that street name signs are located at every city-maintained intersection. If you have a question or comment about signs or pavement markings or want to report damaged or missing signs, call (972) 721-2646 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. After 5 p.m., call (972) 721-2661.

14. Who takes care of trimming trees on public property?: The City of Irving trims tree limbs that extend over city streets on an as needed basis. Dead trees or those that pose a hazard on city property are removed by Street Maintenance crews. Residents that are property owners are responsible for trimming shrubs and tree limbs that block sidewalks.
