1. What should I do if I lost my pet?

• Fill out a Lost Pet report. Reports are sent to shelter staff who will post on the Lost and Found page. Reports are held in our database for 30 days. If you find your pet, please let us know so we can cancel the report. After 30 days, you may fill out another report if your pet is still missing.
• Check our website daily to see if your pet was brought to the shelter.
• Visit our shelter as often as possible to look for your pet. Your pet might have been taken to a neighboring city shelter, so be sure to check other nearby shelters too.
• Search your neighborhood and leave information, a description of your pet with a picture and your contact information with as many people and businesses as possible. You can also post an announcement on social media and place an ad in the local newspaper.
• If you find your lost pet, get a microchip and an ID tag so that they can be easily returned to you if they ever become lost again.

2. What should I do if I found a pet?

• If you can approach the pet safely, check for an ID tag, contact the owner, and help reunite the pet with its family. If the pet is not wearing an ID tag, take the animal to a veterinary clinic or bring them to the Irving Animal Care Campus to check for a microchip.
• If you are unable to approach or transport the animal safely, call Irving Animal Services at (972) 721-2256 and provide the officer with a detailed description of the animal and the location. *If the animal is not located within the city limits of Irving, please contact the animal services agency for the area in which the animal is located.
• If you have a lost pet contained and can provide temporary shelter but have not been able to find the owner, submit a Found Animal report. Online reports are sent to shelter staff who will post on the Lost and Found page. Reports are held in our database for 30 days. If you find the owner, please let us know so we can cancel the report. After 30 days, you may fill out another report if the owner has not been found.
• Post fliers and notices in your area and on social media. Advertise in local newspapers and be sure to read the "Lost" ads.

3. How can I submit a lost / found report?

• To submit a lost / found report, access the online form for either reporting a lost pet, or reporting a found pet. Please submit a picture if possible.
• If you find your pet or the owner, please let us know so we may cancel your report.

4. How can I view lost / found reports submitted?

Irving Animal Services has partnered with Petango to post all animals submitted to us via our lost and found reports. You will find these reports and any pictures submitted on the Lost and Found page. If you feel that one of the animals listed below might be the one you lost / found, please contact Irving Animal Services for more information. *Please be advised that the animals listed on the Reported Lost tab are submitted by residents looking for their lost pets and the animals listed on the Animals Found tab may be housed at the shelter or housed by an individual who posted a Found Animal Report.
