Is it OK to put food waste in the recycling blue bag, or should we wash plastic containers, such as yogurt containers, before putting them in the blue bag?
Food waste cannot be put in the blue bag. It would be preferable for certain containers to be rinsed of the food residue, such as yogurt, beans (because of the grease), mayonnaise or peanut butter. Small amounts of liquids remaining from sodas, water, juice, etc., are not a concern.
