Animal Services

  1. Free Adoptions for Pets 1 Year and Older

    September 21, 2019, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Adoption Kennels

    All adoptable animals 1 year and older at the Irving Animal Care Campus (IACC) will have their adoption fee waived.

    Animals being adopted will be:

    • Up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies if the animal is more than four months of age
    • Spayed or neutered
    • Given a general dewormer and treated for fleas and ticks
    • Microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch
    • Heartworm tested (dogs over 6 months of age)
    • FeLV / FIV tested (cats over 6 months of age)
    • Given 30 days of 24PetWatch pet insurance (with a valid email address)
    • Given a sample bag of Science Diet food

  1. Red Cross Lifeguard Class

    September 26, 2019 - September 29, 2019 @ North Lake Natatorium

    Want to learn skills that will help you save lives? Become a certified lifeguard.

    Prerequisite: Minimum age 15. Successful skills test, which includes 300-yard continuous swim; a 10-pound brick retrieval from 7 to 10 feet depth of water followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick; and treading water for two minutes without using hands. Test must be completed one week before class or must have instructor approval.

    Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Life Guard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.

  5. ArcAttack! Engineering

    September 27, 2019, All Day @ Carpenter Hall

    Part rock concert and part science experiment, the crew of ArcAttack use their high-tech wizardry to generate an electrifying performance featuring the original singing Tesla coils. In this engaging show, audience members will have the opportunity to help the ArcAttack band fix their broken instruments, getting them out on tour. The group and the audience will need to use the scientific method, apply critical thinking skills, and use the rules of engineering to fix the gear. The show must go on, but they need help to pull off such an epic rock show.

    The Kathak-based musical portrays an epic love tale through music and dance. In the story, a gorgeous girl often losing herself in the thoughts of Vrindavan chances upon beautiful love on the meadow. Love blossoms, then she meets an uphill road of separation where mortal challenges of suspicion and fear dislocate her poise. Will she endure it? Will they rise in love? The show takes from the Radha-Krishna metaphor, leaving the audience with a liberating message in a sensory journey of music, poetry and dance.

Parks & Recreation

  1. After School Program - Registration Continues Until Spaces are Full

    August 6, 2019 - September 30, 2019

    Registration for the upcoming After School Program will continue at area recreation centers as space permits. Elementary school students will participate in a variety of activities including gym games, crafts and homework time in a safe and supervised environment. An afternoon snack is provided daily. The program is offered on school days between the hours of 3:15-6 p.m. at Cimarron, Georgia Farrow, Lee, Mustang, Northwest and Senter Park recreation centers. Space is limited for these programs. Please check with your neighborhood recreation center for a list of participating schools or to register in person. Online registration is available at:
