This new camp is designed to introduce young athletes (ages 7-12) to a variety of different sports in one setting. Instructors combine three to five sports into one fun-filled day. Participants will learn the rules of each game through skill-based games and scrimmages, improve their knowledge of multiple sports, and take away vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork, and self-discipline. Youth and high school ages 13-17 are invited to come to the Cimarron Aquatics Center and enjoy the pool along with DJ, food, and other fun activities. Space will be limited so get there early.

Travel the world without leaving Irving at the sixth annual Canal Fest, which will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. June 8 in the Levy Event Plaza, 501 E. Las Colinas Blvd. Each year, Canal Fest celebrates world cultures through dance, music, art and food.
Those attending are encouraged to ride the DART Orange Line to the Las Colinas Urban Center Station. A free shuttle will provide transportation between the station and the event.

Take time to celebrate Dad! There will be burgers on the grill, games, friendly competition and more fun honoring fathers, grandfathers, uncles, sons, grandsons, and fatherly figures! For more than 23 years, the city has hosted a Juneteenth event, commemorating the date that Texans first learned of President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Join the City of Irving and the West Irving Improvement Association from 4 to 7 p.m. June 15 at 3925 Jackson St., for the 2019 celebration. Visitors can learn about Irving’s rich history in the museums at the Jackie Townsell Bear Creek Heritage Center. This year’s event will also feature free musical performances, local vendors, outdoor games and children’s activities. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Le Theatre de Marionette presents “Happily Ever After.” It’s a Princess-Palooza in this fun and interactive show that features all the storybook princesses including Cinderella, Belle and the Beast, Jasmine and Aladdin, Tiana and the Frog, Ariel and her underwater friends, and more. This show is the perfect presentation for those who love the storybook songs and adventures.
The show is rated (G) - “great for all audience ages.” Admission is free, but tickets are still needed and will be made available one hour before show time. No advance tickets will be offered and they are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Irving residents of all ages are invited to join thousands from around the globe as West Irving Aquatic Center hosts the World’s Largest Swim Lesson (WLSL) from 1 to 3 p.m. June 20.
During the event, Irving aquatics professionals will educate participants on how to be safe in and around water, and present basic swimming skills in a fun, enjoyable atmosphere.

Middle and high school students are invited to create fun memories with friends at Poolside Teen Jam events planned this summer. Hosted by Lively Pointe Youth Center, the Teen Jams combine music, food, friends and water into a party atmosphere.
Admission is free for students with a valid IPAR card or school ID. In case of inclement weather, the Splash Jam will be moved inside to the adjacent recreation center.

Celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander heritage in the United States. Irving residents can enjoy an opportunity to celebrate Asian culture during the annual DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival at the Las Colinas Urban Center along the shores of Lake Carolyn from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 23.
Lake Carolyn’s surrounding skies will be filled with colorful kites, while exciting dragon boat races, cultural performances, a lantern festival, traditional Asian cuisine, arts and crafts and more will be made available for attendees to enjoy.
Dragon boat racing originated in China more than 2,000 years ago and is a growing sporting phenomenon across the United States. The annual DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival is hosted by the Marco Polo World Foundation. Admission is free. Visit DFWDragonBoatFestival.com for more information.
