Animal Services

  1. Free Adoptions for Pets 1 Year and Older

    May 21, 2019 - May 25, 2019 @ Adoption Kennels

    All adoptable animals 1 year and older at the Irving Animal Care Campus (IACC) will have their adoption fee waived.

    Animals being adopted will be:

    • Up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies if the animal is more than four months of age
    • Spayed or neutered
    • Given a general dewormer and treated for fleas and ticks
    • Microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch
    • Heartworm tested (dogs over 6 months of age)
    • FeLV / FIV tested (cats over 6 months of age)
    • Given 30 days of 24PetWatch pet insurance (with a valid email address)
    • Given a sample bag of Science Diet food
    Adoptions must be processed 30 minutes prior to closing.

    Honor Irving veterans at a Memorial Day Ceremony hosted by the Veterans Memorial Park Committee. Bob Romano, a former Irving councilman, will reflect on the origin of the Veterans Memorial Park.

    A ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial Park at the Wall of Commemoration, 644 Rock Island Road, following the program.

  1. Memorial Day - No Trash Pickup / City Offices Closed

    May 27, 2019, All Day

    In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no residential trash, curbside recycling or brush collection May 27. In addition, the following facilities will be closed:

    • City Hall
    • Heritage Aquatic Center and North Lake Natatorium
    • Hunter Ferrell Landfill
    • Irving Arts Center
    • Libraries
    • Recreation centers

    The seasonal swimming pools and spray parks, as well as the West Irving and Cimarron Family aquatic centers, will be open from noon to 7 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 27. Visit CityofIrving.org/Aquatics for more information. All offices and services will resume normal business hours on May 28.
