The featured title this month is Appetites by celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain.Do you love browsing through cookbooks and trying new recipes or cooking techniques? Do you enjoy sampling and sharing new dishes? Then hang onto your spatula! We pick the cookbook; you choose and make a recipe. Then we all partake. You don’t have to be a gourmet chef to participate. Novices will have the chance to learn from more experienced cooks, and the experienced cooks will have a chance to show off and share their amazing skills. Stop by the Valley Ranch Library Reference Desk to register for the book club and pick your recipe.

Children and their families will enjoy celebrating National Picture Book Month at this party that will feature a special show by Mother Goose, visiting book characters (Cat in the Hat, Winnie the Pooh, etc.) plus games, crafts, treats and activities. All children age 10 years old and under will receive a free paperback picture book. Free, for all ages. No registration required.

Children in preschool through Kindergarten (ages 4-6) will be introduced to coding and building concepts using stories, DUPLOs, Codepillars, and Beebots. Participants are challenged to complete simple and engaging activities in this 45-minute program. This program is supported by the Friends of the Irving Public Library, through an award provided by Irving ShareTank.Space is limited to 24 pairs of participants (parent and child) and tickets are required.
