The Police and Fire Blue Christmas organization’s eighth annual chili cook-off will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 at Heritage Park, 217 S. Main St. The contestant fee is $25 for the chili competition and $10 for beans, plus the donation of an unwrapped toy. Residents can taste contestants’ chili for $5.
The family event will include a bounce house, face painting, a cake walk, silent auction, car show, games and pictures with Santa Claus. All event proceeds go toward helping Irving children and families in need during Christmas.

The Irving Black Arts Council continues their 30th Anniversary season with “Rhythms of Christmas,” an evening of music, poetry, art and more. The star-studded event features Percussion Things with Dallas-based jazz percussionist Len Barnett, LA-Based Billboard Top 20 Singer/Songwriter Margo Rey and ICTN’s award-winning TV Personality Cathy Whiteman.

The Holiday Extravaganza is a two-part event, featuring a community parade through the Heritage District followed by a tree lighting ceremony outside of Irving City Hall.
The fun will begin at 4 p.m. when the parade winds through the streets of downtown Irving, featuring floats, bands, and community organizations. Immediately following the parade, head to Irving City Hall for the official lighting of the City of Irving's tree! The festivities include a holiday stage show with dance, music, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. Residents are also encouraged to explore the Holiday Open House located inside City Hall. Visitors can browse a variety of booths, learn about each city department, and collect goodies along the way. Enjoy all of the activities of Irving’s North Pole as we count down to the holiday season!
