    Animals being adopted will be:

    • Up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies if the animal is more than four months of age.
    • Spayed or neutered.
    • Given a general dewormer and treated for fleas and ticks.
    • Microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch.
    • Heartworm tested (dogs over 6 months of age).
    • FeLV / FIV tested (cats over 6 months of age).
    • Given 30 days of 24PetWatch pet insurance (with a valid email address).
    • Given a sample bag of Science Diet food.

  1. Memories in the Making Exhibition

    August 25, 2018 - September 30, 2018 @ Irving Arts Center

    Artwork by patients at Villages on MacArthur who participate in the wellness program “Memories in the Making®” (MIM) will be featured in this exhibition. MIM is an art program developed by the Alzheimer’s Association that recognizes that even those who suffer significant cognitive impairment related to Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia can still communicate through art. Exhibition located in the front foyer/hallway gallery. The exhibition will be accompanied by a reception on Sept. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. Gallery Hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon., Tues., Wed. and Fri.; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thur.; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat.; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sun.

  2. Garth Williams: Illustrator of the Century

    September 8, 2018 - January 27, 2019 @ Dupree Theater Lobby

    Organized and toured by the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature in Abilene, Texas, this exhibition presents original work for 28 of Garth William’s most beloved books, including “Charlotte’s Web,” “The Little House on the Prairie” and a number of Little Golden Books. The exhibition curated by Leonard S. Marcus, is the largest retrospective of the artist’s work ever assembled. The exhibition also explores such lesser-known facets of the artist’s career as Williams’ journeyman efforts as a London portrait artist and “New Yorker” cartoonist and his occasional forays into advertising. Preliminary drawings offer glimpses of Williams at his drawing table, while final art for the Wilder series, “Charlotte’s Web,” allow an intimate look at illustrations that readers have held dear. 2 p.m. Sept. 22 | Curator Lecture with Leonard Marcus Gallery Hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon., Tues., Wed. and Fri. 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thur. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat. 1 to 5 p.m. Sun.

    Organized by Future Akins-Tillet, Associate Professor of Art at Texas Tech University, this group show features art inspired by the game of chess. The exhibition features the works of an eclectic group of 22 artists, professors and teachers from around the state of Texas.
