Animal Services

  1. Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month: Big Dogs Adoption Event

    October 1, 2019 - October 31, 2019 @ Adoption Kennels

    In honor of Adopt a Shelter Dog month, Irving Animal Services is offering all large dogs - 40 pounds and larger - for a discounted adoption fee of only $10 for the entire month of October. Normally, the adoption fees range from $70 to $100.

    Adopters must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid form of identification.

    Animals being adopted will be:
    • Up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies if the animal is over four months of age.
    • Spayed or neutered or $50 voucher towards spay / neuter (depending on surgery availability).
    • Given a general dewormer and flea prevention .
    • Microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch.
    • Heartworm tested (dogs over six months of age).

  2. Homecoming Week! Free Adoptions for Pets 1 Year and Older

    October 15, 2019 - October 19, 2019 @ Adoption Kennels

    Adopt your own homecoming queen and king during Irving Animal Services “Homecoming Week” Oct. 15-19.

    All adoptable animals 1 year and older at the Irving Animal Care Campus (IACC) will have their adoption fee waived.

    Animals being adopted will be:

    • Up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies if the animal is more than four months of age
    • Spayed or neutered
    • Given a general dewormer and treated for fleas and ticks
    • Microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch
    • Heartworm tested (dogs over 6 months of age)
    • FeLV / FIV tested (cats over 6 months of age)
    • Given 30 days of 24PetWatch pet insurance (with a valid email address)
    • Given a sample bag of Science Diet food

    During Hallowreads this month, have a scary good time while celebrating all things Dracula. Join us to decoupage terracotta pots with Victorian-themed paper, then plant garlic to keep the vampires away. All supplies provided. Teens and adults only. No children, please.

  1. Fall Carnival Series

    October 18, 2019, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM @ Mustang Park Recreation Center

    Children of all ages are invited to the Fall Carnival Series organized by the Parks and Recreation Department. The fall carnivals will be held at various recreation centers. Wristbands will be sold for $10 each which will allow for unlimited play at all games and activities at the center. Activities, which vary by location, will include carnival games, prizes, cakewalks, bounces houses and concessions. Call the center for details.

    Oct. 17 Update: Due to ongoing construction at Senter Park Recreation Center, the Fall Carnival has been moved to Georgia Farrow Recreation Center, 530 Davis Drive.

  1. Tip-A-Cop to benefit Texas Special Olympics

    October 18, 2019, 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM @ Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen

    The Irving Police Department is hosting its last Tip-A-Cop for the year tomorrow at Cheddar’s and you’re invited! All proceeds benefit Texas Special Olympics. So far for 2019, the Irving Police Department has already raised $49,400 for this great cause!

    There will be numerous police vehicles out front for people to see and take pictures with including a squad car, IPD's SWAT vehicle, the department's recruiting Raptor and a police motorcycle. Shirts and challenge coins also will be for sale.
