    March 28, 2019 - April 1, 2019 @ North Lake Natatorium

    Ages 15 and older and able to complete precourse swim test American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification classes prepare participants to handle emergencies, whether on land or in the water, and result in a certificate that may qualify for a job in the community. Limited scholarships available.

    Widely hailed as Tennessee William’s last great play, “The Night of the Iguana” grapples with some of life’s biggest mysteries. A defrocked priest has been accused of having inappropriate relations with a teenage girl. He seeks shelter at a Mexican inn run by his blowsy, widowed old friend who finds herself competing for his attentions with a kindly spinster who is caring for her grandfather, an aging poet. Of this play, the New York Times raves, “This is Tennessee Williams at the top of his form.”

  2. Cook the Book: A Cooking Book Club (special date)

    Do you love browsing through cookbooks and trying new recipes or cooking techniques? Do you enjoy sampling and sharing new dishes? Then hang onto your spatula! We pick the cookbook, you choose and make a recipe, then we all partake. You don’t have to be a gourmet chef to participate. Novices have the chance to learn from more experienced cooks, and the experienced cooks will have a chance to show off and share their amazing skills. Stop by the Valley Ranch Library Reference Desk to register for the book club and pick your recipe. This program is intended for patrons 18 and older. No children please.

    Experience Dallas Brass Band, DFW's only community band based on the British brass band tradition. The ensemble, led by conductor Jesse Rajabi, will play musical pieces ranging from marches to big band arrangements, film music to devotional settings, and classical transcriptions to original concert works.   1. Girls Who Code: SQL Class Series (Pre-Registration Required)

    March 30, 2019, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM @ Valley Ranch Library Green Room

    This five-session SQL class requires in-person pre-registration at the Valley Ranch Library information desk. Classes are facilitated by Girls Who Code and library staff instructors, and meet from 2:30-4 p.m. on these Saturdays: March 30, April 13, April 27, May 11, and May 25. Class size is limited to 15 persons. Strict class attendance requirements apply. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptops and chargers. For young women grades 6-12.     Community Flea Market. 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 30. Clean out your house and sell your gently used items at our flea market. Set up will take place Friday night and Saturday morning.
