    This Tony Award-nominated, hilarious, roller skating musical adventure about following dreams despite the limitations others set, rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends John Farrar and Jeff Lynne. Based on the Universal Pictures cult-classic movie of the same title, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, “Xanadu” is hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired.

    What if The Beatles were actually from somewhere in the Black Mountain Hills of South Dakota? Bands have been covering Beatles tunes for decades, but none quite like Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Bluegrass Band. Imagine the music of the Fab Four shaken up with infusions of bluegrass and jazz and topped off with a classical twist. The result is a most satisfying musical.

  2. Author Visit with Marjorie Herrera Lewis at Friends Annual Meeting

    Following the Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Irving Public Library, enjoy refreshments and our guest speaker, Marjorie Herrera Lewis, author of When the Men Were Gone. Lewis’s historical novel debut is based on the true story of Tylene Wilson, a woman in 1940's Texas who, in spite of extreme opposition, became a female football coach in order to keep her students from heading off to war. Book signing and book sales follow the author talk. “Sublimely ties together the drama of high school football, gender politics, and the impact of war on a small town in Texas.” – Sports Illustrated.

  1. Canceled: Cops 'N Bobbers

    May 18, 2019, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Cimarron Park Recreation Center

    May 15 Update: Due to the weekend rain forecast, the Cops and Bobbers event has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

    Join local police officers as they offer basic fishing lessons for community children, and the entire family can participate in catch and release fun. A light lunch will be provided by local sponsors. Registration is required at your local recreation center.
