    June is Adopt-a-Cat Month at the Irving Animal Care Campus, 4140 Valley View Lane. Adoption fees for cats 1 year and older are waived during June, and kittens are available for a $50 adoption fee. Vaccinations, spay/neuter, leukemia test and microchip included with all cat adoptions.

    All adoptions must be processed 30 minutes before closing.

    Celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander heritage in the United States. Irving residents can enjoy an opportunity to celebrate Asian culture during the annual DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival at the Las Colinas Urban Center along the shores of Lake Carolyn from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 23.

    Lake Carolyn’s surrounding skies will be filled with colorful kites, while exciting dragon boat races, cultural performances, a lantern festival, traditional Asian cuisine, arts and crafts and more will be made available for attendees to enjoy.

    Dragon boat racing originated in China more than 2,000 years ago and is a growing sporting phenomenon across the United States. The annual DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival is hosted by the Marco Polo World Foundation. Admission is free. Visit DFWDragonBoatFestival.com for more information.
