Want to learn skills that will help you save lives? Become a certified lifeguard.
Prerequisite: Minimum age 15. Successful skills test, which includes 300-yard continuous swim; a 10-pound brick retrieval from 7 to 10 feet depth of water followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick; and treading water for two minutes without using hands. Test must be completed one week before class or must have instructor approval.
Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Life Guard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.

Irving Arts Center presents a quadruple bill of three A Cappella groups and one soloist singer/songwriter/beatboxer. The three featured a cappella groups are Committed, a Grammy-nominated act that won Season 2 of NBC’s hit musical competition “The Sing Off”; The Filharmonic, an act featured in Universal Picture’s “Pitch Perfect 2”; and Women of The World, a quartet of musicians who perform in more than 31 languages and winners of the 2017 International A Cappella Open. Singer/songwriter and beatboxer Blake Lewis, runner-up on the sixth season of ABC’s “American Idol” rounds out the bill.
