  1. Free Cat Adoptions During Month of July

    Looking for the coolest summer companion? The Irving Animal Care Campus (IACC), 4140 Valley View Lane, is offering free adoptions for cats 1 year or older during the month of July. Kittens adoption fees are $50. Adoptable cats will be: Up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies if the animal is more than four months old. Spayed or neutered. Given a general dewormer and treated for fleas and ticks. Microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch. Tested for FeLV and FIV if the cat is at least six months old. Given 30 days of 24PetWatch pet insurance, with a valid email address. Given a sample bag of Science Diet food.

    This week's recipe: Quinoa Shell Pasta with Garlic Jalapeno Sauce

    Ingredient List:
    2 cups cooked quinoa shell pasta or other pasta of choice
    2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil (or other oil). You may also substitute vegetable broth to make recipe oil free.
    1 large carrot peeled and sliced
    1/2 (0.5) large red bell pepper sliced
    1 medium tomato chopped small
    1/2 teaspoon (0.5 teaspoon) salt
    1 teaspoon dried basil or parsley

    Sauce Ingredients:
    2 Tablespoons flour
    1/2 jalapeno or to taste or omit for plain white garlic sauce
    3 cloves of garlic
    1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
    1 Tablespoon nutritional yeast
    1/4 teaspoon (0.25 teaspoon) salt
    1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
