Irving Arts Center

  1. 20th Annual Art Connection Members Show

    August 30, 2020 - September 30, 2020 @ Virtual

Irving Arts Center is proud to announce a new online art microsite, IACOnlineArt.com. The website features all kinds of great engaging content including virtual exhibitions and 360-degree gallery tours, as well as calls for entry of artists interested in exhibiting their work.

The first call for entry to be featured at the new site is for Irving Arts Center’s 20th annual Art Connection Members Show. Both current and new Art Connection members are invited to submit art by Aug. 16. This year’s exhibition will be an online exhibition for the first time, with eligible entries judged for cash awards in three categories: Youth, Nonprofessional and Professional. An overall “Best of Show” prize will also be awarded. IACOnlineArt.com will act as a one-stop shop, housing prospectus and entry details and later, the actual exhibition itself. Selected works will be displayed beginning Aug. 30.

  1. Origami Crane Peace Art

    August 15, 2020, 12:01 AM - September 15, 2020 @ Library locations:
South Irving Library, 601 Schulze Drive.
Valley Ranch Library, 401 Cimarron Trail.
West Irving Library, 4444 W. Rochelle Road.

To celebrate International Peace Day in September, the Irving community is challenged to create 1,000 origami cranes between Aug. 15 through Sept. 15 to be included in art installations. Origami paper kits are available to take home by stopping by the South, West or Valley Ranch Library outdoor drive-up locations and curbside, or at a community partner site. Participants are also welcome to use paper from home.

Once the creation is complete, share photos with #IrvingCranes! Then take the finished artwork to a library location so it may be part of the collaborative displays. Please use the library drive-up or curbside areas during open hours only, and please do not submit the cranes in a book return drop.

Library hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The libraries are closed Sept. 7.
