  1. A History of Walls: The Borders We Build

    June 12, 2021 - August 14, 2021 @ Irving Archives and Museum

    “A History of Walls” features a closer look at four historically significant walls: the Great Wall of China, the Berlin Wall, the Israel/West Bank Barrier, and the US/Mexico Border Wall.

    Each wall is examined as a historical, political, and cultural phenomenon. The exhibit puts a special focus on the lives of people affected by these imposing and oftentimes dangerous structures. Visitors will find themselves challenged to consider the role of walls in their lives, whether those walls are far away or right next door.

  1. Online: Submit Photos for the Pet Parade

    July 1, 2021 - July 22, 2021 @ Online

    Irving Public Library celebrates Dashing Dogs, Creative Cats and Spectacular Species by accepting pet photos electronically until July 22. Winners will be announced on Zoom at the Pet Parade on July 24 and will receive a gift certificate to PetSmart.

    To submit pet photos and obtain the Zoom login link, email lcannon@CityofIrving.org.

    The photos will be compiled for the virtual Pet Parade video which will display on the library’s social media channels in August. For submission categories, rules and full details, please see CityofIrving.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=9183.

    Please note the time change for the parade; it has been rescheduled to 10 a.m. on July 24.

    Registration is still available for the field trip series. On July 8, the group will visit Epic Waters in Grand Prairie for an awesome aquatics adventure. Enrollment is limited. Trip fee includes transportation and admission.
