Friends of the Irving Public Library Members-Only Book Sale

The Friends Warehouse at 3000 Rock Island Road is filled with thousands of gently-used donations and seldom-used items from the library's collection. These "members-only" sales are held on the first Wednesday of every month, except for January, June and July. Membership to the Friends may be purchased on-site during these sales.

Inktober Challenge

Take the annual Inktober Challenge with 31 drawings in 31 days. Create positive drawing habits, improve art skills and attend exciting events throughout the month.

Girls Who Code: Grades 3-5

Girls in grades 3-5 are invited to learn coding from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on selected Wednesdays this fall at Valley Ranch Library. Registration is required by picking up a packet at the reference desk. The series is held in the program room on the following dates, and may be joined on any date during the series:

MiY Zone South: 3D Printing

MiY Zone Valley Ranch Create: 3D Print a Jack-O'-Lantern

Stop by the MiY Zone during open hours in October to customize a Jack-O'-Lantern design in Tinkercad and submit a 3D print. An LED tea light is included. Please call (972) 721-4669 for more information. Adults.

MiY Zone Valley Ranch Library: Papel Picado

Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, use the laser etcher to create papel picado, an art form made with decoratively-cut paper. The design file, instructions and materials are available in the MiY zone, while supplies last. No registration is required.

1, 2, Me & You @ South Irving Library

Ages 1 to 2 years old. Be prepared to move! This storytime focuses on large motor skills to keep young minds and bodies engaged. Stories and songs encourage the love of books and the library.

A parent or caregiver should be present, and is encouraged to engage and participate in the storytime.

Toddler Storytime @ Valley Ranch Library

Ages 1 to 3 years old. Take part in stories, songs, finger plays and a lot of movement.

Study Hall: Limited Series

Teens in grades 9-12 are invited to study with friends at West Irving Library, with snacks and basic school supplies provided. October dates are Wednesday, Oct. 5, Oct. 12 and Oct. 19.

Young Adult Action Council (YAAC) @ South Irving Library

Join the Young Adult Action Council (YAAC) and earn volunteer hours for school by planning upcoming teen programs. Must submit a completed form to participate. Meetings at South Irving Library are the first Wednesday of the month. Teens in grades 9-12.
