In the Arts Center's Galleries

Galleries are open noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Free to view; advance reservations are recommended. In-person guided tours are offered the first Saturday of each month at 2:30 p.m. with advance reservation.

Midweek Mysteries Book Club: Kelley Armstrong Mysteries

On the first Wednesday of each month, join a lively discussion of the best that the mystery genre has to offer.

Please note that this book club will not meet in October, and will resume in November.

Friends of the Irving Public Library Members-Only Book Sale

Check out amazing deals on books, movies and music for all ages at the First Wednesday Book Sale, which is held every month except for January, June and July. Proceeds benefit Irving Public Library.

North Texas Giving Day 2023

This year's Friends of the Irving Library focus is the North Texas Teen Book Festival (NTTBF). Early giving begins as of Sept. 1, and ends as of Sept. 21. Check the Friends website or the Irving Public Library home page for upcoming details.

Storytime Calendar (New Storytimes beginning in September)

In September, Valley Ranch Library introduces two family storytime sessions on Tuesdays, one at 6:30 p.m. and a second at 7:30 p.m. Space is limited at these sessions and tickets are required. Tickets are free and are available beginning 30 minutes prior to the storytime session.

Valley Ranch Library also offers preschool storytime at 10:30 on Thursdays, and beginning in September, the last Thursday of the month will be a bilingual English-Spanish preschool storytime.

Please check the holiday calendar for library closures.

Note: Valley Ranch Library will not offer storytime sessions from Oct. 23 through Nov. 12. Storytimes will resume as of Nov. 13.

Discover With Me Series

South Irving Library offers a Discover with Me series for parents, caregivers and children ages 1-3 years old every Wednesday beginning Aug. 30 and continuing through September. These free programs include unstructured play time for kids and an opportunity for adults to talk to a child specialist about early literacy, child development, health, nutrition and more. Sessions are at 10:30-11:45 a.m. on Aug. 30, Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27.

Build-a-Bot

Work in small teams with a kit to build a new robot each month. For kids ages 8 and up.

Young Adult Action Council (YAAC) @ South Irving Library

Join the Young Adult Action Council (YAAC) and earn volunteer hours for school by planning upcoming teen programs. Must submit a completed form to participate. Meetings at South Irving Library are the first Wednesday of the month. Teens in grades 9-12.

Sept. 4-7 Collections Move One Day

All trash, recycling and bulky/brush pickups normally scheduled Sept. 4-7 will be conducted Sept. 5-8.
